He didn't want to accept any rabbinical position so he and his youger brother Kalmen had the rights of distilling slivowitz in the Sobranc area. After someone informed on them, he was sentenced to death he ran away and came to America but his father-in-law did not let him take his sons with him. So he and his wife and 4 daughters came to America. He died here on July 3 1902 and was buried on July 4th in Washington Cemetery in Brooklyn. His wife went back to Europe and lived with her son Reb Shlomo Zalman in Shilau till she passed away in 1923. [1] |
