    Hugo Berg has died on 25 August 1943 in Westerbork transit camp and he was cremated on 27 August 1943. The urn with his ashes was placed on the Jewish cemetry in Diemen on field U, row 11, grave nr. 25.

    Also attached is a photo of my maternal grandparents, Hugo Berg and Mary Berg-May, taken, I was told, shortly after their wedding day. These photos were  included with some dinnerware, silverware and table linens that had apparently been left for safekeeping with my maternal grandmother's brother Alfred Cohen, co-owner of the Amsterdam department store Maison de Bonneterie. These artifacts were all that remained of the possessions of my mother's family. The Bonneterie was looted by the Nazis but they apparently chose not to take any of these items.  [1, 2
