The children went to New York where his 3 unmarried sisters brought up the children, then two married and the remaining sister, Henriette was left to care for them.
Eventually some of them moved back to Panama, three who then made their homes in Panama: Brandon, Ithiel (who changed his name to Robert), Audrey (my mother, who met my father, a civil engineer who went to Panama to work for the Canal); two who lived there for a while, then returned to the US: Richard, (who lived there for a while, then moved to Peru, then to Washington, DC where he lived until he was dying and chose to die in Panama), and Ethel, who lived in Panama, married a distant cousin, Fredd Maduro, and lived in Panama until they separated and she moved to New York City. Eugene, the eldest was a successful lawyer, who never married and lived in New York City. He quit his career to dedicate himself to ornithology and had a desk at the Museum of Natural History in New York City until his death. [1] |
