Johanna worked as business manager in Osnabrück for the Heymann Company. On her retirement she moved to Göttingen to her sister Lina, who had been living there since 1910, at 6, Wöhlerstrasse. When the owner of the house on Wöhlerstrasse wanted to sell the property, the sisters decided to move to Hanover.
Finally, Johanna Blumenfeld and her sister were assigned an emergency dwelling in the “Jews’ House”, 16A Wunstorfer Strasse. From there, they were rehoused in the Assembly Camp in Hanover-Ahlem and, on 23rd Juli 1942, deported to Theresienstadt. Johanna Blumenfeld died there on 3rd March 1944.
