Biography |
Born in Berlin, she was a cousin of the German Foreign Minister Walther Rathenau , and a granddaughter of Max Liebermann's Aunt Therese. Levy-Rathenau was one of the prominent Jewish women in the German women's movement dedicated. She married the physicist Dr. Max Levy (1869-1932) and was called Levy-Rathenau.
With her win in 1894, founded the Association of German Women's Associations , who wished to promote among other things, the employment and economic independence of women, significantly adding to its effectiveness. Already in 1898 the federal government in Berlin "information center for women's interests" had set up. This was in 1902 after the name change to "information center for women's jobs" under the new director Levy-Rathenau, the first independent career counseling facility on German soil.
Levy-Rathenau founded the Women's Club of Berlin 1900 eV . In 1914 she was among the initiators of the "" National Women's Service. In the period 1910 to 1920 she was the magazine "woman's profession and working out," the important technical articles on the employment and training situation contained in the labor market disadvantage women. In 1920 she was Councillor Municipality of Berlin. Until her death on 15th November 1921 she was committed to the professional emancipation of women, her life's work. [1] |
