Biography |
Levy was the son of a banker Stargard. After attending the local grammar school from 1888 Levy studied physics and mathematics at Heidelberg, then electrical engineering at the Technical Universities of Darmstadt and Munich. In Darmstadt, he put the exams in 1891 as a graduate engineer and received his doctorate in 1892 in Giessen.
Levy joined in 1892 the electricity Schuckert & Co. AG, formerly in Nuremberg in 1893 and went to General Electric Company (AEG) in Berlin, where he was entrusted with the planning of large electrical installations. In 1896 he became head of the newly formed X-ray department of the General Electric Company (AEG) . Levy invented including a mercury-rays circuit breaker with adjustable current period and founded in 1897 in Berlin, Müller Strasse 30, Dr. Max Levy GmbH for X-ray machines as the first specialized company of its kind in Germany. From 1914 Wide range of drive technology for machine tools, generators, sewing machines and fans. From 1945: Resumption of production. Today the company is under the name AMK Tornado Antriebstechnik GmbH in Berlin.
Since 1898 he lived in the highway road. In 1914 he moved to Bridge Avenue.
In 1900 marriage to Josephine Rathenau , a cousin of the German Foreign Minister Walther Rathenau , and a granddaughter of Max Liebermann's Aunt Therese.
1918 Levy meets with his wife Josephine Levy-Rathenau, the newly founded German Democratic Party one (DDP).
Levy married his second wife Clara Hagelberg 1925. The marriage produced two children.
