1872 - 1956 (84 years)
||Ernest Albert Ascoli |
||My grandfather (Albert Ernest Ascoli 1872-1956) grew up as an orphan|
believing his parents died on a shipwreck coming out to Australia but
through my genealogy research I've found out that his father was still alive
and had some other families in Australia. This greatgrandfather that I
never knew, has different names and nationalities on his children's birth
certificates. He was known as Francis or Joseph (or Francois, or Frederick)
and he died in Melbourne, Australia in 1895. He gave his nationalities as
German, English and French on different documents. You can see it's a
confusing story but a good one to research.
Albert Ascoli worked in the Angourie quarry from March 1897 to August 1899. There were about 150-200 people working in the quarry between about 1893 & 1899 when it closed. It seems that Albert & Susannah moved to the quarry soon after their marriage. [1, 2]
